STARTED A NEW PROJECT A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, WHEN WE EXCAVATED AND POURED THE SLAB. THE SLAB HAS BEEN CURING SINCE THEN, AND TODAY WAS THE BEGINNING OF WORK IN EARNEST.
THIS MICRO-STRUCTURE WILL BE AN OFFICE FOR ONE OF THE CLIENTS, WHO'S A COPY EDITOR, AS WELL AS A GUEST SUITE FOR VISITORS. ALL THAT IN ABOUT 150 SQUARE FEET.
THE 'EDITOR SUITE' WILL HAVE BUILT-IN DESK AND SHELVES, A SMALL FOYER AND A BEDROOM NOOK. THE EXTERIOR WALLS WILL FOLLOW THE OUTLINES OF THESE INTERIOR ELEMENTS. WE'VE LABELED THESE FEATURES 'BUMP OUTS,' WHICH DOESN'T SOUND VERY COOL, BUT THEY WILL BE...
A FOURTEEN-SIDED POLYGON OF A CONCRETE SLAB. FOR THE BUMP OUTS.
THE LUMBERYARD DROPPED A TON OF WOOD IN THE DRIVEWAY. SPENT THE REST OF THE DAY CARRYING IT TO THE BACKYARD, GETTING IT STACKED, COVERED AND READY.
